When it seemed that brands were forgetting that everything that was not zero emissions, there is one that has given the surprise: this is the first hybrid engine that, however, will not be as you expect, and does not use the fuel you think.

Geely Auto Group is a world-renowned Chinese multinational automotive company which has implemented great steps towards advancing the powertrain technology in the passing years. But in fact Geely is not one of world brand super stars, as it controls major automotive brands like Volvo, Lotus, Proton and smart.
Geely’s objective is to head meteorological new energy vehicles’ market. For this aim the company has expended its budget to a great extent in order to have new type of engines and systems including hybrid. Much of its latest progress is a hybrid motor called the BHE15 Plus, combined top efficiency, power and flexibility.
This BHE15 hybrid engine is now not what one is used to. It works provocatively with fuel and gets up to incredible 44% thermal efficiency. It means that the car is able to convert much more energy into motive power than in case of the traditional engines.
Hybrid engine that says goodbye to EVs: the closest to zero emissions
Geely Auto, this Chinese carmaker, has presented its hybrid power unit, the BHE15 Plus. This enticing propulsion system which was invented operationally and technically in Geely´s powertrain R&D department rivals all other ones worldwide.
Besides, the BHE15 Plus has become an inevitable part of the debut showcase of the brand which was held at the Geely‘s home base, which is its main production facility, in this region Ningbo, China. During the launch event, the prestigious senior figures who form the management bodies of Geely and its subsidiaries were present.
The company claimed that the BHE15 Plus was a technological innovation, a giant leap compared to the previous generation. It involves a package of existing new technologies able to reach high rating to fuel consumption and performance.
It´s enhanced by a turbo 5 l engine, with electricity and a battery. Combined, the aforementioned modules are a powerful propelling force. According to the manufacturer, BHE15 Plus is designed to create approximately 204 hp and as much as 300 Nm of torque.
A hybrid engine that opens a new generation in the industry
The all-new BHEE11B engine of Geely brand appeared on the market, equipped with a smart hybrid system for great fuel-efficiency and performance. The system is anonymous due to its architecture, which plays a crucial role in its 5L turbocharged gasoline engine joined to the powertrain of motor and battery.
The gas engine operates in straight way and drives the wheels producing speed for the movement from low to moderate velocity. Above a certain speed or when full power is required, in addition to high power density, the electric motor offers the advantages of higher speed by giving an instant power boost for increased performance.
The gasoline unit and the electric motor of the hybrid system switch over as needed in a transparent manner. The battery supplies secondary power during the acceleration period and allows the gas engine to leave off in idling or coastal period to preserve fuel.
The BHE15 Plus relies on a synergistic effect transformation of the electric drivetrain into internal combustion vehicle by using the strong points of both technologies, while maintaining competitive quality and price. The hybrid subsystem are synchronized to our ipt gearbox, which is a 7-speed wet dual clutch transmission.
This new hybrid engine once again reinforces the idea that the mobility of the future will not be exclusively shared between hydrogen and electricity. We could even talk about non-polluting gas as an option that, although it is losing appeal among the big brands, could still be considered.
