Elon Musk has just taken a historic step, but backwards. Tesla is in serious trouble after the launch of one of its most innovative, bizarre and futuristic vehicles. Do you know what it is? Several months ago, Lady Gaga was spotted driving it, but now there has been a massive recall affecting thousands of drivers. The brand wants to get them off the roads quickly, and these are the reasons that have the rest of the carmakers looking sideways, with a certain amount of fear and disbelief at what has happened.
Tesla (but not Musk) has admitted its failure: It’s historic, and carmakers are on edge
In June 2024, Tesla Inc. again recalled nearly 12,000 of the electric Cybertrucks because of a problem with the windshield wiper motor and an additional, smaller trim part on the back of the truck bed. This latest recall is the third and fourth time that the cyber truck has been recalled since its release in late last year, and demonstrate a problem that Tesla still has with quality control with the trucks.
What has the well-known company admitted? These are only three of the failures found by customers:
- Windshield Wiper Motor Failure: There was an electrical issue identified when it comes to the front windshield wiper motor controller since it just fails due to more electrical current that is supplied, and this actually is able to affect the motor during use. This poses a very huge danger as it is very risky, especially when conditions are general foggy.
- Plastic Trim Detachment: A black plastic trim piece that runs around the edge of the truck’s bed was listed as possibly coming loose while the truck is on the road. This problem was discovered when a Cybertruck was moved from one area to another without this specific trim; a probing look at the situation showed that it had been installed incorrectly.
- Accelerator Pedal Issues: Before that, Tesla, in its April 2024 release, made a recall of the accelerator pedal assembly. On some models of the vehicle, the pad inserted on the accelerator pedal could come off, and it is risky because the pedal might get snapped to the interior trim.
Why is Tesla’s problem so serious? It could end up wrong, and Cybertruck is only the beginning
This could result in what is known as sudden acceleration, where the car speeds up without the intention of the driver, which is life-threatening. Tesla has said that this can be easily corrected by modifying, or swapping out, the accelerator pedal assembly, which can be done in less than 15 minutes free of charge to the owner.
Recalls pertain to about 11,688 of the Cybertrucks out of the model made between November 13, 2023, and June 6, 2024. Thus, this figure can be viewed as close to 100 percent of all Cybertrucks that are currently available and actively used, which outlines the scope of the problem.
Tesla Cybertruck recall in detail: It’s not about what has happened, but about what will happen now
The recalls are in twos after a software-related recall in the early part of the year with 2.2 Million Tesla Cars Including Cybertrucks, including Cybertrucks, because of the Visibility Problem with Warning Lights. Total Cybertrucks Affected: It has been estimated that there are around 12,000 people of this nationality.
- Manufacturing Dates: Cars that rolled out off the assembly line from the 13th of November in the year 2023 to the 6th of June in the year 2024
- Previous Recalls: This entails complications such as those of the accelerator pedal and visibility concerns, which are stemmed by the car’s software.
The two recalls pertain to the Cybertrucks owned by the drivers, while the remedies require a trip to a Tesla service center. It is anticipated that owners will be notified of the latest recall in mid-August 2024 as to what actions they are supposed to take. Tesla has stated that all these repairs will be carried out without any charge to the owners of the vehicles.
It is clear that the Tesla Cybertruck recall has been a source of problems for the brand, which has still not managed to rebound after the drop in sales since the pandemic. However, their future plans are so promising that we will take what we have said so far with caution. Perhaps they will even dare with a new fuel that has yet to be revealed but which has a lot to do with the same ones that Japan is developing and that China has not managed to “crack” (it still has time to do so, and not just a little).
